We offer free, confidential advice, information and representation to the communities of Bradford 8 and Bradford 9. We provide targeted, professional support that enables people to develop their skills and improve wellbeing. We promote social justice and work closely with the local authority and other local services to support people’s rights. We measure the difference of our work in terms of reduction in debt, increases in benefit income, prevention of homelessness, increase in skills and improved wellbeing.
Our advice centre at Kirk House is open for five days per week. We provide ten 3-hour advice sessions per week throughout the year under our contract with Bradford and Airedale Citizens Advice. These are shared between Kirk House and other community locations in the area. We also provide 7 hours per week of extended access advice sessions throughout the year on behalf of Bradford VCS Alliance. For one afternoon per week we offer a more empowering form of support – our Self-Reliance programme – aimed at helping people to develop their own capabilities through Solution Focussed Coaching rather than relying on experts to solve their problems.
