MAIN is a Teesside-based charity which provides support for families affected by disability throughout the north east. MAIN’s provision includes short breaks for people with disabilities which give them the opportunity to have fun, make friends and try new things whilst also giving parents/carers a break from their caring responsibilities in order for them to be able to spend quality time with their other children or partners or to peruse their own hobbies or interests.
MAIN provide a range of clubs suitable to the age, ability and interest level of service users and a personalised PA service so our service users can access community based activities.
We also provide an alternative education facility for children who are unable to access mainstream provision and a day service for adults.
In addition, MAIN is the Special Educational Needs Information Advice Support Service SENDIASS provider for Middlesbrough Borough Council and Redcar & Cleveland County Council.
Our Durham service is autism specific for adults who are not in receipt of a care package who need love level support to guide them on the route to independence.
We also have three qualified teachers who provide a range of accredited and non-accredited training programmes in autism and associated conditions.
MAIN has spent the past twelve months defining the Charities strategic objectives; these are defined within the MAIN strategy houses. Each manger and employee has set objectives to help the charity achieve it's goal - The Leading Charity in the North East for Supporting Individuals & Families affected by Disability. We have recently purchased our own property https://www.iammain.org.uk/mains-big-build/. This is very positive step for the charity.
