Objectives

Maidenhead Cycle Hub is a local charity, passionate about cycling and the benefits it brings to individuals, communities and the environment. We aim to get more people cycling by providing low cost refurbished bikes, low cost servicing and repairs, organised rides, advice on bike routes and cycling safety.  We also provide local young people with the opportunity to gain technical and transferable life skills to build a successful future.

Charity Aim: To encourage more people to take up cycling by selling affordable secondhand bikes and to refurbish donated bikes to stop bikes going to landfill.

In 2023 we refurbished and sold over 600 bikes.

Maidenhead Cycle Hub is passionate about cycling and the wide range of benefits it brings:

  • Health and general fitness
  • Environment
  • Cycling in a group allows you to meet new people or helps reduce isolation

We have a WORKSHOP in the Bell Street Business Centre near the station in Maidenhead where our qualified mechanics and workshop volunteers repair and refurbish donated bicycles.

We have a SHOP in the Nicholson Centre, Maidenhead where we sell the refurbished bikes as well as new and secondhand bike accessories.

We have a friendly team of over 25 shop and workshop mechanics and volunteers, and several of our trustees volunteer at shop and workshop too.

  • We sell refurbished donated bikes at cost effective prices around 50% or less of the equivalent new cost.
  • We provide low cost bike servicing and repairs at the workshop.
  • We run regular Bike Maintenance classes
  • Our shop volunteers provide information and advice to help people choose a suitable bike, bike accessories and where they can cycle in the local area.
  • We regularly organise group rides for beginners and for families around the local area. These routes introduce people to safe, low traffic routes, open spaces like the Jubilee River and the local cycle route networks.
  • In conjunction with CyclingUK we can provide free 30 minute 'Dr Bike' bike 'mot' sessions for local residents where our trained mechanics check the bikes, make minor adjustments and indicate if any areas need additional attention.
