The museum will: 

• be socially inclusive 

• work closely with other organisations 
• ensure that its programmes relate to the museum’s purpose 
• be as objective as possible 
• operate ethically by subscribing to the codes of ethics of the Museums Association and International Council of Museums 

Our Functions 

The museum conducts an on-going active dialogue about Lyme, its environment, its past and its future with people who live in, work in and visit Lyme. Our aspirations include: 

• preserving existing collections (geology, archaeology, history and art). 

• adding to those collections and undertaking relevant research 
• contributing to the wider wellbeing agenda for our local communities 
• providing permanent and temporary exhibitions 
• facilitating access to the historic building, collections and information 
• opportunities for formal and informal learning 

• encouraging debate 
• reaching out to diverse communities, especially those unable to visit the museum
