The Long Shop Museum aims to be a museum of national significance with displays that are relevant for the 21st century. We aim to provide an exciting visitor experience that is accessible to everyone, strives for the preservation of local heritage and aim to actively engage the community and provide worthwhile opportunities for people, including for disadvantaged, vulnerable and young people.
The Museum is open to the public 6 or 7 days per week from late March to early November and attracts approximately 10,000 visitors per year. In addition to regular Museum displays, we organise temporary exhibitions, family activities in school holidays and a variety of other activities and special events including an annual 'Steam Day'.
