Objectives

Whether at sea or on land, the Sea Cadets offers young people across the UK amazing opportunities for personal development - by learning new skills and working in teams -  we offer an environment where young people find new confidence and inspiration.

We need your help – we need volunteers who are happy to roll up their sleeves, get involved and make a huge positive difference to the lives of the young people we work with. We have a range of roles available as instructors, unit assistants or trustees as part of a unit management team.

Our aim is to inspire young people through nautical adventure and challenge to help give them a head start in life.

Activities

We aim to offer young people a head start in life through a variety of training and experiences. Cadets take part in diverse and exciting activities including water sports, adventurous activity, offshore voyages and international exchanges. We also offer a huge array of qualifications from the recreational to the vocational, such as engineering, catering and even BTECs.

All this is only achievable through the hard work of our adult volunteers. Our instructional volunteers work with cadets across lots of activities that you can gain new skills in too. With a mix of uniformed and non uniformed roles there is something for everyone.

Each unit is an independent charity run by a Unit Management Team (UMT) made up of trustees with roles like: chair, company secretary and treasurer. You'll be part of a team that fundraise for and manage the unit, to ensure more opportunities are available to young people in your local area.
