Llanelli Mind has provided services since 1986 to local people and is affiliated to Mind nationally. We deliver services locally and more widely across the county of Carmarthenshire. We campaign and seek to influence the provision of mental health and social care services locally and nationally.

Our mission is to provide appropriate and timely support for those with mental ill health, their carers, and their families. Our vision is for all people suffering mental ill health to receive the support they need to recover and live a fulfilled life. We also want to see more positive awareness of mental ill health, and for everyone to be able to recognise the signs of their own mental health needs.

Our aims are to promote the preservation of mental health and to assist in relieving and rehabilitating persons suffering from mental disorder or conditions of emotional or mental distress requiring advice or treatment and relieving the charitable needs of carers and families. To promote the study of and research into mental health disorder and emotional or mental distress and to obtain and make records of and disseminate to the useful results of such research and to educate the public in matters relating to mental health.

Our ambition is to be a truly open, accepting and inclusive organisation, providing services to all those that need us, regardless of ability, age, gender identity, race, religion, sexuality or language. The diversity within our communities across Llanelli and Carmarthenshire is what makes it such a vibrant place to live, and we will do everything we can to make our services as accessible and welcoming to all!

Llanelli Mind has a number of projects and activities within Llanelli and the wider Carmarthenshire area.

  • Our Day Opportunities project at our Welcome Centre in Llanelli offers a safe and welcoming environment that provides an excellent range of support and advice services, including one to one support, group activities, counselling and emotional well-being courses for those experiencing mental ill health.

The service is to enable confidence and independence, reduce the feeling of isolation, and encourage resilience and recovery wherever possible through structured intervention.

Llanelli Mind is a therapeutic service with a varied programme of activities, structured workshops and interventions that can be accessed by those who have been assessed. We have a passionate, friendly and committed team who strive to support and improve the mental well- being of those who attend the Welcome Centre

  • Our Digital and Social Inclusion project is to support those who are experiencing mental ill health and who are prone to loneliness, isolation, and poor self-esteem. Social inclusion aims to enable a more positive and healthier human experience.

We offer a range of support services including peer to peer support; we match our trained, peer support volunteers to provide mental health support within the community, to isolated individuals with low to moderate mental health concerns.

This special, dedicated service enables our service users to confidentially discuss mental health concerns and problems regularly with their peer support volunteer. We support to build self- confidence, esteem and resilience, with renewed hope for the future.

Our D&SI project also offers support groups for carers and those who are socially isolated, both in person and online via our digital coffee morning and similar support sessions.

  • Our Counselling Service at Llanelli Mind has, over the last 10 years provided therapeutic services through a number of different projects to the people of Llanelli and the surrounding areas. Most recently this work has expanded into the Swansea valley working in partnership with two other local Mind organisations.

Today we offer four services providing counselling and therapeutic courses including managing worry, resilience and emotional wellbeing. We also provide a pre-counselling support service through our Llanelli Cluster project.

Offers counselling and therapeutic courses accessed through seven local GP practices. If you are a patient of Ty Elli, Burryport, Fairfeild, Avenue Villa, Ashgrove (Thomas street), Llangennech or Llwynhendy you can ask your surgery for a referral to us.
