Objectives

Into The Light was founded in 1993 and established to provide a place of understanding and support to those who had experienced sexual abuse and to those that support them offering counselling, information, support and resources. Into The Light is  a full Member of The Survivors Trust.  The Survivors Trust is the largest umbrella agency for specialist sexual violence support services in Europe and represents Survivors Organizations at Government Level. 

The aims of Into The Light are to:

    • Provide counselling, information support and resources to Survivors of all genders who have been sexually abused as children and young people
    • Offer support and information and resources to the partners, carers and  mental health professionals working  with or in relationship with  Survivors of all genders who have been sexually abused
    • Increase public awareness on issues relating to sexual abuse of children and young people

Our Mission Statement

The mission of  Into The Light CIC  is to preserve and protect the mental and physical health of people who have  suffered sexual abuse, and also to support those who support Survivors of sexual abuse.  It is also to advance public education about all matters relating to the sexual abuse of children and young people.

 

Our Model of Recovery

Into The Light’s guiding philosophy is that change and healing come through:

  • Breaking Isolation
  • Sharing Experience

 

The aims of all the Into The Light programmes are to:

  • Remove blocks in life
  • Reclaim damaged parts of personality
  • Put the past in perspective
  • Develop better relationships
  • Be closer to others (and for some people – God as you understand Him)

 

Activities

The Services We Offer Include:

A Ten Week Psycho-educational Course for Survivors of sexual abuse which is topic based and but also has plenty of time for sharing experiences and is facilitated by a professional counsellor. This is available through:

  • Groups: Women’s Groups in London, currently on line
  • One to One: For all genders in person in London, currently on line
  • On Line: For all genders throughout the UK

One to One Counselling

This is available:

  • In person for all genders in London currently on line
  • On line and via phone for all genders throughout the UK

Workshops on some of the main issues surrounding sexual abuse for Survivors and also for partners, support workers and counsellors that support them.

Seminars and Training for community groups, counselling services and organizations on the issues surrounding supporting survivors of sexual abuse.

An informative website which provides information and resources for Survivors who have experienced sexual abuse and those that support them.

Training for counsellors to run the Into The Light Ten Week Psycho-educational Course which is recognized as an official training course by the ACC.

Raising Public Awareness through writing articles for magazines and publications on how Survivors can be supported.

All Into The Light Counsellors are Members of the BACP and  adhere to their strict code of ethics.
