Lewisham Multilingual Advice Service (LMLAS) is a well-established community organisation that provides free and confidential advice to all BAME groups who live, work and study in the London Borough of Lewisham and the surrounding areas. We provide advice, advocacy support in mother tongues to people who speak little or no English. This enables them to understand their rights, in order to access all relevant entitled services. The main areas of work are welfare benefits, to appeals and representation level, consumer, debt, education, employment, family issues, health, housing, utilities. If there is no capacity within the organisation to deal with a matter, we endeavour to find another that can help. LMLAS is AQS compliant, provides emotional support to service users, has a successful record of developing volunteers through training, and protects health and the relief of poverty, sickness and distress.
Our main activities consist of:
• free telephone Advice Line service;
• face to face and telephone casework appointments;
• free weekly digital hub sessions;
• Volunteering opportunities.
