Objectives

Connecting Lewisham community through giving to grow local pride, fairness, equality and opportunity. We encourage individuals, businesses and organisations in Lewisham to give their time, skills, in-kind and money to local good causes and charitable organisations. We profile local good causes and the work they do to encourage more investment and support from people who can give. Our work is important due to the substantial cuts from central and subsequently local government to the community and voluntary sector and the need for increased giving and investment.

Activities

We run a number of high profile initiatives to raise the profile of local giving and local good causes. These include:

Community Contributor Card - Volunteers or people who give to the community can access a free card getting discounts in over 170 local businesses. Businesses are engaged and provided with an opportunity to support local volunteers and give back, joining a giving community.
Community Toilets - Partnership with Lewisham Council to improve free toilet facilities in the borough. Over 50 local businesses and organisations signed up to offer free toilets access, improving the number of disabled and baby change facilities in the borough.
Free Water Refills - Helping reduce single-use plastics through local businesses acting as free water refill stations. Run in partnership with GLA and Thames Water
Employee Volunteering - Using our network of community minded businesses, helping these connect with local charities through employee volunteering opportunities.
One-off Giving Opportunities - Making the most of national campaigns (e.g. Giving Tuesday, Volunteers' Week) to use our network of community minded businesses and individuals to promote local giving
