Objectives

If you love singing, the Leith Hill Music Festival will send your soul soaring to the heavens... LHMF is a competitive choral festival for amateur choirs in the Surrey area, founded in 1905 by Lady Evangeline Farrer and Margaret Vaughan Williams, whose famous brother, the composer Ralph, was Festival Conductor for nearly fifty years. Our present LHMF Conductor is Jonathan Willcocks, an internationally renowned conductor and composer.

Activities

In a normal year, hundreds of singers take part in a three day choral festival in the Dorking Halls. On each competition morning, three or four of the member choirs compete to the last crochet to win trophies, then gather in harmony again in the afternoon for a joint rehearsal and evening concert of the main work for their division under the baton of Jonathan Willcocks, together with a full orchestra - presently Southern Pro Musica - lifting the roof with live music.
