Objectives

Leigh Building Preservation Trust (LBPT) was set up to regenerate a historic Grade II* Listed twin mill in Leigh.  The building is in poor repair and is on Historic England's At Risk register.  Following a successful project to save the engine house and set up a volunteer group to repair the unique steam engine, the charity intends to regenerate the two mill buildings.  It will provide a mix of commercial and leisure facilities within the mills, benefitting the community, saving buildings of national importance, and delivering new jobs for the town.

Activities

LBPT has been supported by The Prince's Regeneration Trust to develop its vision, working towards a Heritage Lottery Fund application.  This will allow the repair of the mill roofs and the phased implementation of the plans to regenerate the buildings.
