Built in 1892 by local philanthropist Abraham Dixon, the Letherhead (note the old spelling) Institute was a gift to the people of Leatherhead and a focus for a broad range of educational, social and recreational activities.
Based in the Institute building, the Leatherhead Community Association (founded in 1977) is a registered charity that exists to build on Abraham Dixon's legacy by continuing to provide facilities and opportunities to enrich the lives of everyone in the local community.
The LCA has a thriving and expanding membership and enjoys a secure and influential position at the heart of the Leatherhead community.
The LCA runs an ambitious programme of events that includes visits, concerts and outings: guided walks; Friday 'Tea and Talks'; book clubs; art history lectures; coffee mornings; a free lending library; a music appreciation group; and many other social and sporting activities.
