Objectives

We are a community owned biodynamic social farm on the stunning Blackwater Estuary, just outside Goldhanger, Essex. Our guiding principles are Conservation, Education and Care. The farm is therefore managed in a holistic, ecological and ethical way. Much of the farm is designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and home to numerous endemic plants and insects. We are unique in the county to provide social farming  education and care for adults with learning disabilities in farm settings

Activities

We became a community owned farm in 2017 and now have over 190 members. We preserve and maintain the fragile environment of salt-marshes by low density grazingby rare breed cattle and sheep. We offer day placements for adults with learning disabilities in a range of activities including animal care, horticulture, cookery, crafts, sales and conservation.  This is great opportunity to learn valuable skills alongside our experienced staff and become part of our team. Our open days and farm walks and talks  are well attended by members and wider public, interested in conservation, birds and biodynamics. Vegetables, fruits and herbs grown on the farm are available through weekly box scheme and local markets.
