Objectives

Launch It is a charity dedicated to empowering young people to start their own businesses. We run enterprise hubs and programmes, encouraging more young people to start and grow businesses. Our objective is to level the playing field for young entrepreneurs from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds, enabling them to develop confidence, skills and have access to opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach.

Over 12,000 young founders have been supported to start a business, and the results speak for themselves. On average, 66% are still trading after 5 years, compared with the UK average of 44%.

Activities

From our 5 centres across London, we offer the following key activities:

Affordable workspace - we offer units at a highly subsided rent without any long-term contracts, thus allowing beneficiaries to start building their businesses without taking on unnecessary financial risks.
Business and personal support – many of our young people face personal challenges. Each centre has an Enterprise Manager whose role is to empower young to succeed against the odds.
Funding - we run ‘Dragon’s Den’ style pitching competitions with local businesses. We are also partnered with the Startup Loans company, who provide low interest loans.
Mentoring – we have mentors who are local business owners, alumni of our
programme and corporate volunteers.
Skills training – with business leaders e.g legal workshops with RPC, Digital Skills programme supported by NatWest, and Money Talks financial skills training project with AIMS accountants.
