Objectives

Our organisation helps people living with addiction and dual diagnosis, this includes family members. We provide a rights-based advocacy (RBA) service working the client across the range of issues they present with.  We are the only dedicated RBA in Scotland utilising human rights to inform and guide our practice, this means we can work with an individual across the span of time required for each client. This is opposed to the more prevalent needs based approach which deals with single issues. Our average client has faced and continues to face significant challenges across multiple areas in their lives. The RBA offers them continuity of advocacy services across these areas and without limit of time.

Our second service area is the delivery of our Scottish Qualification Approved Advocacy Practice Award (SCQF Level 7). We encourage people with lived experience to undertake the award which is open to people currently working with addiction and dual diagnosis

Activities

We deliver both elements of our service across two populations, client and candidate. We have two robust and rigorous evidence based systems which inform our on-going development. These allow us to record the efficacy of the services we provide and an opportunity to make changes to strengthen the services through client and candidate feedback.
