Knights Youth Centre (KYC) is situated on Clapham Park Estate, Lambeth and delivers a service for young people aged 8-25. KYC promotes a service which is representative of the local community. KYC is open to any young person regardless of gender, sexuality, disability, culture or religion. It is our philosophy to promote the welfare of the young people, provide positive experiences and opportunities that will enable each young person to become more self confident, safe, ready for adulthood and independence through delivering universal and targeted services with the community five days per week.
KYC work with two local schools; Richard Atkins Primary School and City Heights E Act Academy secondary school. Both schools have been very encouraging and positive in supporting our work.The KYC team lead assemblies on a regular basis. We have covered topics including enterprise, taking positive risks and heroes. The team also provide support for a group of boys in Year 5. This support has involved the boys developing communication, leadership and team work. Most these boys also attend our Friday night Juniors session. KYC has been delivering a street based programme for a few years. Our Street Team are out three times per week. The team spend time developing relationships with young people, parents/carers and other residents. The team also deliver a number of activities on the street as well as mediating any conflict we come across. KYC are very proactive and supportive of developing and sustaining partnerships which have a positive impact on young people and their community. We work with a wide range of voluntary and statutory partners.
