Our mission is to enrich the lives of people in West Cumbria with diverse & innovative cultural experiences.
Our region includes areas both of rural isolation and urban deprivation. By offering a range of high quality performances and a rich variety of participatory opportunities, we aim to reduce isolation (especially among the elderly), inspire creativity and bring the well-established benefits which cultural activity creates for well-being and personal growth.
We offer a range of high quality participatory opportunities and performances. The Kirkgate Centre is the key community facility in Cockermouth, with a wide variety of user-groups. Through Arts Out West rural touring scheme and our lead role in Cumbria Family Arts Network we bring varied cultural opportunities to community venues across West Cumbria.
We also incorporate the Cockermouth Heritage Group with an extensive local history archive. We use this resource not only to explore and communicate the area's history, but also as a basis for creative participatory projects.
