Objectives

To support children, young people and adults living, working or studying in Kingston, or registered with a Kingston GP, who have been bereaved of someone significant to them. Providing them with the right help at the right time in the right way - recognising the individual process of grief. Thus enabling them to work through their grief, understand how it is impacting on them, to explore and express their feelings and ways of coping, and to be able to move forward to the future with hope and positive well being.

To reach everyone in the community who needs us, children, young people and adults, those who are socially isolated, are disadvantaged and have complex needs. We respect all cultures.

To raise awareness and promote understanding of bereavement in the community to enable other professionals to be better equipped to support people who are bereaved of someone significant.

Activities

We pride ourselves and our organisation in being the 'centre of excellence' that people turn to when bereavement impacts their lives, be that in a personal or professional capacity, and provide the following services:

  • Occasional group support for adults following their individual sessions
  • Bespoke groups for children and young people on request
  • Support, information and advice for people wishing to access our service, and their families, and for anyone in the community via telephone, email, or face to face consultation
  • Delivery of bespoke training and outreach services to other agencies, employers and practitioners working with children and young people
