Kijana Kwanza (Young People First) is a child and youth development charity that seeks to empower a new generation of Tanzanians to become engaged, globally aware and economically independent citizens. We achieve this by providing a safe environment for children and young people to grow, stay healthy and access formal learning, vocational training and life skills. We also support families to develop economically and provide for their own children.

We deliver a wide range of activities for children and young people including:

  1. Shelter (on-site, in foster care or at a youth hostel)
  2. Sponsorship to attend primary or secondary school
  3. Extra-curricular learning
  4. Apprenticeships and vocational training
  5. Short courses & ICT Training
  6. Emergency grants and interest-free loans
  7. Community events and interfaith projects
  8. Low-rent social housing
  9. Invests in local infrastructure such as schools, community wells and medical centres
  10. Rural microfinance initiatives and sustainable farming
