Objectives

We are a registered Scottish charity that aim to help women and children recovering after domestic abuse.

The organisation’s purposes are:

  •  to relieve women and their children of domestic abuse across Scotland by offering short-term housing and other opportunities that promote and empower an abuse-free future.
  •  to advance the health and well-being of women recovering from domestic abuse across Scotland by offering person-specific resources and support to heal from past
  • abuse and to end cycles of victimisation. to promote the equality and diversity of women by raising awareness of domestic abuse in Scotland.
  • to prevent the impoverishment of at-risk women victims of abuse through opportunities for financial and personal advancement.

We offer a 12 week programme which is the first step to recovery. We then offer various empowerment workshops as well as mental health and wellbeing groups and activities such as Yoga, garden group, peer chat groups etc.

At the moment there is not a lot of help after a woman has left the abusive relationship. They feel isolated, traumatised and unable to get on with life. Jubilee House has helped women through the community to recover and gain confidence and life skills empowering them to live their best lives.

Activities

At the moment we run the Freedom Programme and the Women's Empowerment Pogramme. These are delivered by an experienced and trained facilitator who is also the managing director. The Freedom Programme is a domestic violence programme which examines the tactics, behaviours and beliefs of abusive partners. It also looks at the behaviours of non-abusive partners and explores the roles that society plays in forming each. The aim of the Freedom Programme is to help victims make sense of and understand what has happened to them allowing them to go on and live abuse free lives. We also aim to raise awareness about coercive control.

We run empowerment skills workshops which covers things like how to control your own finances when you are out of the abusive relationship, assertiveness training etc

We also run female empowerment groups such as the garden group, ladies yoga and wellness and childrens Yoga and wellness.

We are looking at starting a craft cafe for the wellbeing of women in the community.

We aim to expand and hire more people to help us deliver more services to women who need it.
