Jeans for Genes Campaign distributes grants to charities and organisations for the benefit of people with rare genetic disorders.
The Charity’s objects are specifically restricted to the following:
1. The relief of persons suffering from genetic disorders
2. The advancement of medical research into the causes, cure, prevention or relief of genetic disorders and the publication of the useful results of that research
3.To raise awareness and advance the education of the public on the subject of genetic disorders
Jeans for Genes Campaign is a fundraising subsidiary of the CGD Society but funds are distributed to many other charities too.
The annual Jeans for Genes campaign has a 25 year history and is held every September to raise money from donations made in return for wearing jeans to school or work instead of the usual attire. All profits from this campaign are distributed to charities and organisations who support people with the many different genetic disorders.
A majority of donations are raised from schools where we supply educational packs to assist teachers and explain genetics to pupils. In organisations, individuals donate for the privilege of wearing jeans or dressing down for the day to raise awareness.
