Objectives

We are a non for profit organisation that has been established for two decades aiming to empower and provide leadership for disadvantaged women and young people

We are seeking volunteers for our unique and exciting carnival project in celebrating 50 years of Notting hill carnival 2016.

 As a valued volunteer and helper/supporter you will be given the opportunity to learn skills of carnival costume making and design and to take part in our carnival tours.

Activities

Jamboulay is based in the borough of Hackney which is one of the most ethnically diverse most vulnerable and socially deprived boroughs in the Lower income BME groups.

Workshop are aimed at providing training and development to volunteers in all aspect of carnival arts while creating spectacular costumes, delights a large audience and delivers its main objectives. Jamboulay is an active member participation with Carnival Arts & Masquerade foundation (CAMF) Programme of activities included the following:

  • Carnival skills workshops to young apprentices age 18-24 yrs with New Deal of the mind in 2010,including NVQ Stewards training to local people.
  • Organised and delivered costume master classes
  • Touring festivals and carnivals eg; Nottinghill, Hackney,Luton, Bristol, Isles of Wight, The 2012 Olympic parade.
