We are a grassroots "fledgling" organisation. Our aim is to establish an inclusive Community Centre in the Jacobs Wells Road, Harbourside, Hotwells, Clifton Wood and Brandon Hill area of Bristol. Until we have a building of our own we will be using shared spaces and outdoor spaces for our events.
Other areas of Bristol have a Community Centre. Our area is sadly lacking this resource. We are a very diverse community. There is evidence of isolation and the impact this has on people's health. A Community Centre is much needed on our area.
Other areas of Bristol have access to the Linkage programme of events and activities for the overs 50s. We do not have Linkage in our area.
Since our first public meeting we have engaged the community in a range of events; picnics, bat walks, singing, history talks, Tai Chi, and a Street Party on St George's Road in central Bristol.
We are working with our Neighbourhood Partnership Team to communicate more effectively with the wider community.
We have established a regular singing event. We hope the Tai Chi will continue to run on a regular basis.
Currently we are a small team on out Steering Group. We are looking for more local people who can support us with specific tasks.
