Objectives

Irish Community Care is a registered charity, which exists to identify and respond to the needs of both the Irish and Irish Traveller communities across the north west.

We currently offer a range of front-line information, advice and outreach support services including welfare benefits advice and advocacy, support around homelessness, seeking more appropriate accommodation, poor health, drug or alcohol misuse, cultural and social isolation. We facilitate social support groups for Irish elders.

Activities

CARA Irish Communities Together through COVID-19 is an exciting programme led by Irish Community Care; where Irish organisations across the North West of England have come together to deliver a dedicated COVID-19 response service. The aim is to support our communities to stay safe, well and connected through lockdown (and beyond).

CARA (meaning ‘friend’ in Irish) is providing a vital helping hand and listening ear to people who are particularly vulnerable during the pandemic i.e. those who are self isolating, older, in poor physical or mental health; managing caring responsibilities and job loss, living alone far from family and friends.
