We're a friendly community group of volunteers working to improve our health and well-being, learn new skills and help wildlife in Central Milton Keynes. We meet every Tuesday 10:45am to 2pm!
We improve four community gardens by completing outdoor activities. These activities vary each week and we're always looking to do something new.
No experience is needed to volunteer as all instructions and tools are provided. We offer the opportunity to meet friendly people and learn new skills for free!
The group is currently funded by intu Shopping Centres, Milton Keynes Council and Milton Keynes Community Foundation, but will become an independent group (led by the volunteers) at the end of 2019. We are looking for people with an interest in the outdoors and wildlife, who want to benefit from what we do! Benefits outlined below:
Benefits to volunteers include: improved physical health, improved mental well-being (feel good!), reduced anxiety, reduced social isolation, boosted confidence and self-esteem, opportunity to learn new skills, improved muscle strength (especially important for older people, helping to maintain independence in later life), improved community feeling by working with others and giving back.
Here are some of the activities we do: build bird boxes, plant bulbs, make insect boxes, cut back vegetation, gardening and many more!
At intu Green Gym you can get active outside, whilst connecting with nature, giving back to local wildlife and meeting friendly people from your local community. There's the opportunity to learn new skills whilst making a big difference to your community.
