Objectives

The International pre-Autistic Network (ipAn) works to tackle autism at its earliest stages.

This work is important because each year over 7,000 children in the UK are diagnosed with the Autistic Spectrum Disorder. This is a developmental disorder which can effect an individual’s ability to communicate and to relate to other people, and to make sense of the world. Research shows that the early detection and treatment of autism can bring about profound and lasting benefits for the child.

Our objective is that each child who shows the early signs of autism is helped to meet their full potential.

We aim to meet this objective by:

  • Increasing the early detection of autism by raising the awareness of the early signs amongst parents and professionals.
  • Promoting the treatment of autism at an early stage.
  • Supporting research into the early detection and treatment of autism.

Activities

To meet our objectives ipAn:

  • Provides an information service for parents and professionals
  • Holds conferences and workshops
  • Supports researchers
  • Raises funds to help meet the costs of treatment
