Interim Spaces is a ‘meanwhile use’ charity founded in 2016, unlocking opportunity in otherwise disused buildings to help into self-employment emerging and low-income talent, by way of low-cost work and development space and event and performing arts platforms.
The charity achieves its aims creating a competitive vacant property management solution for landlords that protects, maintains, and reduces vacant holding costs on buildings awaiting sale or redevelopment, offering considerable savings on business rates, and deters vandalism and trespass.
During 2016–17 we ran and completed our first project at a Portman Estate owned building, supported by Westminster City Council, providing low-cost workspaces for 13 theatre and textile designers. We have recently completed on a five year lease for two levels of former offices just off Leicester Square
