Interburns, UK registered charity, is an innovative, dynamic, global health sector NGO focussed on improving the quality of burn prevention and treatment in low resource and conflict settings. It is a charity that is highly regarded and unique in its field. Since 2006, we have built a large international community of volunteer experts who share a passion for burn prevention and treatment, and who have supported each other to develop and share resources that are innovative and proven to reduce burn injuries in low-and middle-income countries where the highest number of injuries occur.
The organisation supports long-term change through strategic planning, building networks of multidisciplinary practitioners to share best practice, and delivery of tailor-made tools and training programmes. We also work with international partners to improve emergency response mechanisms for mass casualty disasters.
In low income countries and conflict settings, burn patients often receive delayed, inadequate or inappropriate treatment leading to unnecessary suffering, disfigurement, disability or death.
Working with a global network of burns specialists, Interburns has developed a comprehensive, integrated approach to improving the quality of burn care. This approach has been implemented in countries across Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
From spearheading community first aid and prevention programmes, to training in burns from intermediate to advanced levels, Interburns works to ensure that all burn patients have access to good care, despite limited resources.
