Since 1977, Independent Options has been working to empower people with disabilities, enabling them to take control of their lives, achieve their aspirations and enjoy life to the full. We offer a range of highly personalised support services for children and adults who have a wide range of disabilities. We work with people who have learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, acquired brain injuries and mental health needs. Society places barriers in the way of people with disabilities and those who love and care for them. However, we know that with the right support, families and carers are able to cope better and people with disabilities can reach their potential and lead fulfilling lives. Our services enable people with disabilities to get the life they want and also ease pressure on families.
Central to our efforts as an organisation is our Person Centred Approaches (PCA) group and involvement of families. Our main services are:
(1) Supported Living where we work closely with families to identify people who want to live together and find suitable properties for them to live in. We are providing support services to around 16 tenancies around Stockport and Marple.
(2) Our Hallfield guest house in Stockport where we provide short stays. We are pleased to note high levels of satisfaction from guests and families.
(3) Our Shared Lives service remains a popular choice for many. It is all about matching the right person with the right family, and when that happens amazing things are possible.
(4) Our Children and Families Centre, providing many events to support families and children in their early years. Volunteers and parents have helped develop this further.
