Geographical remit:

Ilfracombe Museum is a curious eclectic mix of collections from many different eras and locations as well as being the guardian of local history and stories. We provide an enjoyable, hands-on museum experience to visitors locally, nationally and internationally. We recieve research enquiries from people all over the World. The museum hosts three local groups for seniors which help to combat loneliness whilst allowing people to pursue their own interests. We provide activities for families at subsidised rates and free educational visits for schools as we are located in one of the most economically deprived areas of Britain.

We host the three senior groups on a weekly, bi weekly and monthly basis, we regularly receive school groups and put on children's activities during school holidays. We are open 6 days a week (sometimes 7) during the summer months and are available to assist visitors and local people with family history enquires and other information regarding Ilfracombe's history. We have a programme of talks and events for adults each year at an affordable cost, including free open mornings and events.

Our volunteers help us to care for our collection and make information available when requested, they help to run events and to greet and welcome visitors.
