Objectives

At Ignite, our mission is to inspire and to empower local residents to both recognise and find solutions to community problems. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to live as a valued member of a positive and flourishing community. We value human dignity and all our projects and services are designed to promote self respect, independence, and empower individuals to make positive choices to improve the quality of their life.

We deliver a range of different funded projects, activities and services across the East Yorkshire region. We work in partnership with a range of local agencies and we pride ourselves on being a small friendly team at the heart of the community.

Activities

We currently run two community projects:

1. Stepping Stones: We know that everyone is different, and so the areas of support we can offer will vary from person to person. Although many people come to us with one need in mind, we aim to help people to think about their life as a whole and to encourage people to keep taking positive steps.

Here are some of the keys areas that our Stepping Stones service offers:

  • Digital Support - Using a computer or device, Using the internet etc
  • Learning & Education - Offering tailored accreditation's, Numeracy and Literacy skills etc
  • Employment Support - Focused job searching, creating CV's, cover letters, Interview tips etc
  • Money & Budgeting - budgeting courses, debt referral support etc

2. Refresh & Redeem - Music & Mental Health programme

The main aims and objectives of our programme is to improve youth provision in the East Riding/Hull area and promote positive mental health for young people. The programme will be helping reduce the risk of young people disengaging with their education and supporting those young people who may struggle with anxieties and low self-esteem.

We carry out weekly DJ workshops in the community and school settings that will inspire and educate young people which will eventually lead to them gaining an official accreditation award by AQA.

The young people will learn new skills and make creative decisions through the art of DJing. We also aim to support them in re-engaging with their school education, and help reduce social isolation and anti-social behaviour within their local community.
