Objectives

I am Somebody’s Child Soldier (IamSCS) is a five years UK registered charity organization dedicated to empowering former child soldiers and victims of war suffering from post war trauma and financial instability, through supporting sustainable livelihood initiatives, educational programs, rehabilitation, psychotherapy and raising awareness about the social stigma attached to mental illness across Africa. The charity hopes to help create environments where former child soldiers and victims of war are not haunted by their past experiences.

Activities

In order to achieve our objectives, we have partnership with three institutions:

  • FIDA Uganda

Our partnership will help develop and implement programs for former child soldiers and victims of war/women returnees, by providing support that will enhance personal development and rehabilitation, household income, mental health, education.

  • Laroo ADRA School

We are currently working closely with the school to help improve the learning experience and living standards of their 43 hearing impaired pupils out of 800 attending the school.

  • VAC-NET

We partner with a local Uganda NGO, called Volunteer Action Network (VAC-NET) to help fund business skills/development training, money management training, leadership skills and micro-loans for the beneficiaries identified through FIDA.
