Huriah is an ethical fashion brand and campaign for positive social change, we use creative design to raise awareness of social and climate injustice. The reason for this is that we want to create a shift in consumer behaviour to become more sustainable. WE inform the public of lifestyle choices that can better themselves and their planet. Much of the work we do is to inspire other brands to take up better practice, being the change we wish to see in the fashion industry. This is needed as today the fashion industry is currently here second most impactful on the globe, plus its myriad of social implications.
Huriah also provides access to social action campaign building workshops for young people 15-25. We have found that a community focused approach in young people increases creativity, well-being and self-esteem.
Many young people we encounter feel they are settling for a career they are not passionate about, which can sadly lead to low life-satisfaction and poor wellbeing. Actively having discussions with a range of young people we found the problem usually spurs from being rushed to define our entire career when we are 16, deciding A-levels.
Our primary product is our hemp-based t-shirts. These products are produced with people and planet in mind. The production process has a near net neutral impact on the environment as most production is complete in a renewable energy run factory and rainwater is used for irrigation. Our supply chain has also been verified ethical by third parties such as, The Co-operative Bank.
Since Huriah prints its own merchandise, we offer this service out to other organisations who require personalised products.
The service we provide is predominantly formed of workshops and programmes. This service is focused on youth empowerment and is delivered in a variety of methods; online and in-person. These workshops and programmes have been co-designed alongside our beneficiaries, ensuring we are delivering a service that is best matched to serve our outcomes. These outcomes focus on; self-esteem, leadership, creativity and overall well-being.
