The Sea Cadets is the UK’s leading maritime charity and provides a head start in life for young people through nautical adventure and fun. Our volunteers work, both directly with young people and behind the scenes, to help make a positive difference to teenagers who are often struggling in today’s world and their communities.
Hoylake & West Kirby Sea Cadets is currently looking for an enthusiastic Administrative Assistant to join its Unit Team . Hoylake and West Kirby is a long-established Sea Cadet Unit that has provided life-changing opportunities for many young people. We currently have 20 cadets who come from all over the Wirral area.
The Charity is currently looking for enthusiastic volunteers that can support the Unit and develop our young people. There are free training courses available for you to develop new skills, boost your CV and support you in this role.
Our friendly, trained volunteers – some from a naval background, many not – are role models for cadets, looking out for them, and helping to draw out anyone who's shy.
Everyone looks after each other at Sea Cadets. There's a lot of respect in the air. And many teenagers and volunteers say it feels like a second family.
We take this responsibility extremely seriously and have robust, active safeguarding practices in place to ensure all young people feel secure and protected. We have a varied syllabus of activities for Junior aged cadets 10-12 years and Senior Cadets 12-18 and Royal Marines Cadets 13-18. The syllabus takes young people through a range of modules both on and off the water including: engineering, catering, first aid, field craft, boating, sailing and leadership.
By choosing to volunteer with us you can unlock many opportunities and will amplify your application forms, build professional connections and allow you to try new things while enabling you to further develop your career prospects. We also offer a flexible approach to volunteering so you can volunteer around your studies and work commitments. Our inclusive environment offers something for all ages, backgrounds and experience levels. Most courses are subsidised with the cost of transport and accommodation included, which means you will never be out of pocket.
