We are the worlds only Hovercraft Museum, this year celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Hovercraft and the 50th Anniversary of the giant SR-N4 "The Princess Anne". The museum is situated on a Transport Heritage Site, with over 50 Hovercraft on display.
The collection includes all types of hovercraft: military, commercial, multi-purpose, rescue, survey, exploration, racing, fun and recreational. In size they range from the smallest to the largest commercial car carrying hovercraft in the world. The collection is unique, irreplaceable and inspiring. Four of the craft are listed on The National Historic Ships’ Register. Run and supported entirely by volunteers The purpose of the museum centres around enjoyment, education and inspiration by sight, sound, touch and understanding all focused on the truly British invention of the Hovercraft.
2020 will also see the planned opening of a fully functioning education zone onboard The Princess Anne, enabling the local community, school, clubs, groups and visitors to take part in educational visits incorporating many subjects including Science and Technology.
The museum has fun activities for all ages, free guided tours, a gift shop and a coffee shop. A truly fantastic and unique day out for all ages.
During the year we also offer the opportunity to experience a Hovercraft experience in partnership with Hovertravel from the slipway opposite the museum.
