Objectives

We are a social housing provider and social enterprise which promotes and provides affordable housing and services across Central Scotland.

We believe that all members of society are equal and that everyone has something to contribute.  We are committed to supporting the development of diverse communities which include disabled people.

We work to provide homes and housing related services which offer the opportunity for people to be independent and have choice and control in their lives.

Our vision

We want to enable people, regardless of age or impairment, to live full independent lives in the community of their choice.

Our purpose

We work to address the inequality and challenges that many disabled people and their families face trying to access housing and housing choice.

Values

What we do, and how we do it, is driven by our values.

We believe that:

  • we are all different, equal and valuable.
  • access to housing and services should not be determined by impairment.
  • everyone has a right to be included.
  • disabled people have the right to housing, services and support to enable independent living.

We also believe that people are disabled by the barriers they face in and around their environment, and by attitudes and assumptions, rather than by their impairments. This is often called the social model of disability.

Activities

We have seven strategic objectives:

  • Make the most of our property assets - provide attractive, well maintained places where people want to live.
  • Provide customer focused housing services which meet people’s needs at each stage of their journey - searching for a home, living well in their home and community, affording their home, moving home.
  • Develop Care and Repair or similar services that help older and disabled people to remain in their communities.
  • Encourage inclusive design of housing and communities - with 10% of new housing to wheelchair standard.
  • Increase the numbers of disabled people able to get the right home for their needs - rented or purchased, newly built or adapted.
  • Work in alliance with others to influence policy and practice on provision and adaptation of housing and related services for disabled and older people.
  • Recognise that everyone has something to contribute and support staff, Board members and tenants to do so.
