HoodEx is a Community Interest Company that aims to empower ex-offenders and individuals at risk of offending in South Shields, UK. Our organisation provides these individuals with volunteering opportunities, group physical training sessions, and the chance to help run our vintage clothing store.
Through our services, participants receive combat sports training and gain valuable work experience, helping them build skills and confidence to enter the job market. Surplus profits from our store are used to fund PTI courses and driving courses for our volunteers. In addition, our partnership with Raleigh International offers humanitarian expedition placements abroad to volunteers who have done at least a year of volunteering with HoodEx.
Our help matters to the community because of the positive impact it has on these individuals, who face significant barriers to reintegrating into society. By providing them with opportunities to build valuable skills and experiences, we help them become contributing members of their community rather than falling back into a life of crime. In doing so, we make our community safer, more inclusive, and more resilient.
HoodEx aims to empower ex-offenders and individuals at risk of offending by providing them with volunteering opportunities, group physical training sessions, and the chance to help run their vintage clothing store.
To achieve their objectives, HoodEx engages in the following activities:
1. Volunteering Opportunities: HoodEx offers volunteering opportunities to ex-offenders and the at-risk individuals in their community. These volunteering opportunities help to build skills and confidence and offer valuable work experience to those who have difficulty finding employment.
2. Physical Training Sessions: HoodEx provides group physical training sessions that focus on combat sports training. These sessions allow participants to channel their energy in a positive way while improving their physical fitness and well-being.
3. Running a Vintage Clothing Store: HoodEx also offers the chance for volunteers to participate in running their own vintage clothing store. Volunteers gain valuable experience in managing a retail store, customer service, and marketing skills.
4. Surplus Profits: HoodEx uses the surplus profits from their vintage clothing store to fund PTI courses and driving courses for their volunteers. By creating a sustainable business model, HoodEx is able to provide additional support to their participants.
5. Humanitarian Expeditions: HoodEx has secured a partnership with Raleigh International, which offers three-month humanitarian expedition placements abroad to volunteers who have done at least a year of volunteering with HoodEx.
Overall, HoodEx engages in a range of activities that focus on empowering ex-offenders and individuals at risk of offending, with the ultimate goal of helping these individuals build successful and productive lives.
