Objectives

Home-Start Bromley is a registered charity, part of the Home-Start UK network of federated of charities. Home-Start has a long history of providing support for parents and their children through a team of trained volunteers who provide practical and non-judgmental support for families.

Home-Start Bromley offers support, friendship and practical help to families with children in the locality of Bromley. Home-Start believes that parents play the key role in giving their children a good start in life, however we recognise that parenting is a challenging and demanding role. We are here to support parents in this key role, and provide the support and friendship they need. The earliest years make a big difference. Home-Start helps to make those years count, so no child's future is limited.

Activities

Home-Start Bromley aims to support parents in their parenting role, and in doing so promote the best outcomes for their children and the family as a whole.

Home-start’s approach is to support early intervention, as the early years are seen as the most important years, and every child deserves a good start in order to maximise their future potential.

Volunteer Home visiting

Our volunteer home visiting service is at the heart of what we do. Our volunteers are matched to families to provide a tailored programme of practical and emotional support for parents at times when parenting is particularly challenging.

Our families are very diverse and so the support that volunteers provide is varied, however the main aim is to provide support for parents to enable them to provide the best environment and nurturing for their children.

Not all of our support and work happens in the family home. When that’s not right for a family, or where we are helping to address isolation and loneliness, create wider network and connections, building relationships and confidence, our groups are often a great way to get the help you need in the right environment. It is possible to receive support at home and in a group, start with a group and transition to home support or use a group as a transition period as home support reaches a conclusion.
