Home4U is a small charity based in Cardiff offering accommodation and support to people who have sought asylum in the UK and have been made destitute when they have reached a break in their claim.
Home4U plays a crucial role in the lives of those we support, whether their legal claim is eventually successful or not. Having a place to call home increases their self worth, makes them hopeful and more energized. During their stay with us, we empower residents to make advances with their legal claim and establish durable pathways out of destitution. We know that just under 60% of those who have been with us at Home4U now have permission to stay in the UK, possibly many more.
Home4U provides a period of respite from destitution in a safe, comfortable, furnished home. With the support of a small staff team and volunteers, our organisation aims to help people regain their dignity, empower them to take back autonomy, access professional help and make the best decisions possible for their future.
We offer people accommodation financial and other support to engage with legal advocacy to progress their claim for asylum and to engage with and contribute to the communities in which they are living.
We work with a wide range of partners who support Home4U to achieve its objectives, from supplying accommodation, providing food, counselling services, and several grant funders enabling us to pay for other essentials such as energy bills and a small financial award for our residents.
