Home Start exists to provide support to local families in need through home visiting support, help with shopping, providing company, other practical help and support, friendship and family outings. Volunteers are usually parents themselves. Work with families is confidential. High quality training is provided before
a volunteer starts visiting / supporting a family. Support is available to families who have at least one child under 5 years old. The high quality support that we provide to families is reflected in the fact that leading
organisations continue to fund our work i.e. the Lottery, Lloyds TSB Foundation and The Henry Smith Charity.
We have a strong and diverse Trustee Board who are responsible for the governance and direction of the Charity. We have a 3 Year Strategic Plan with set objectives to achieve within this period. We also have a number of Committees of the Board to develop particular areas of work i.e. Fundraising / Finance and
Strategic Development. We report regularly to our funders on the progress we are making in meeting the needs of local families.
