Objectives

Home-Start Watford & Three Rivers helps local families with at least one child under 5 years deal with the challenges they face. We work across Watford, Three Rivers and Hertsmere to intervene early, supporting parents as they learn to cope, improve their confidence and build better lives for their children. We are a highly respected organisation and truly embedded in our local community. Referrals come from every corner of the community including GPs, social workers and midwives.

Activities

The core of our work is our home-visiting volunteer service - we match trained volunteers with parenting experience to families. They visit once a week and offer practical and emotional support on a variety of issues.

We run Family Groups for our supported families, offering a safe and stimulating environment for babies and toddlers, and an opportunity for parents to meet and socialise, building their own social networks.

Alongside this, we run a low-cost counselling service.. Supported families can be referred in for 12 weeks counselling with free childcare provided in the Family Groups by our volunteers.

In the school holidays we run drop-ins and coffee mornings, forest schools and trips as well as parties at Christmas and Easter.
