Objectives

Home-Start supports vulnerable young families in the London Borough of Redbridge, East London, with children under the age of 5. Our families may be facing a wide range of challenges - including multiple births, lack of local family support, unemployment, mental health issues, recent arrival in the UK, or having a child with a disability.

Home-Start Redbridge is rooted in the community it serves and managed locally but is linked to Home-Start UK which offers support, training, information, and guidance to schemes to

Home-Start Redbridge believes that children need a happy and secure childhood and that parents play the key role in giving children a good start in life and helping them achieve their full potential. We aim to work in partnership with parents by supporting & encouraging them through the early years of family life.

Every year we support over 100 local children and over 70 families.

Activities

We offer two core services: home visits, and a weekly family group.

Home-Visits: we recruit and train volunteers from the local community with parenting experience themselves, matching them with a family. They make weekly visits, offering both practical support, emotional support and sign-posting to other local services.

Family group: each week we facilitate a group session for families who are unable to have a home visit, or where a home visit is not suitable. The group offers a chance for families to meet each other and establish a support network, as well as a safe space for children to play.
