Our service is designed to provide a unique and confidential early intervention home-visiting service delivered by volunteers who offer friendship and support to families who have at least one child under 5 and are struggling with the demands of family life. We can demonstrate a measurable improvement in parents’ confidence, self-esteem and well-being leading to an improvement in their ability to cope with everyday family life.
Our key aims as an organisation are to :-
Currently we have around 30 volunteers who support families through our home-visiting service. Volunteers are carefully matched with a family and offer them emotional and practical support (usually for up to a year.) Volunteers encourage families to widen their network of relationships and to effectively use other support and services within their community. All our services are based around the principle that volunteers offer no judgement, just compassionate, confidential help and support.
We also run an evolving range of weekly support groups. For example Mums in Mind is a peer support group for mums with under-1s, where they can talk openly and share their experiences of life as a new mum.
We are constantly looking to develop and improve our services to meet the needs of families in the area.
