Objectives

Home-Start East Sussex provides support to families and victim/survivors of domestic abuse. We believe that everyone should be able to live in a safe and nurturing family where every member can enjoy a positive and fulfilling life. We work one to one and in groups to encourage and develop the increased safety and confidence of families who have experienced adversity. One to one IDVA service is provided to eligible clients experiencing DA/CPV and signed up to attend a group.

The charity supports local families to build stronger, more resilient relationships through targeted services that encourage clients to make decisions, act for themselves and take back control of their lives.

Activities

They currently run three free services:

Lotus Domestic Abuse Programme: The service is a six-week group programme which aims to support and empower survivors with the knowledge and tools to stay safe from domestic abuse in the future, support any children they may have including understanding how to effectively co-parent with an abusive ex-partner, and improve their own wellbeing. The programme runs online on Zoom and in-person in the Community.

Being Family Programme: This group covers the changes and challenges that the arrival of a new baby may bring concentrating on you as the parent. The service consists of a 6 week online group and tailored 1:1 volunteer support. Any parent/family with a child under 12 months old (at the start of the group) is eligible. The group is both for first time parents and those who already have children.

Who is in Charge Programme: this programme is a group for parents and carers of children aged 8-17 whose behaviour is violent, abusive or seeming beyond control. This programme runs over 9 weeks, and aims to support and empower you, encouraging you to make practical changes.
