Objectives

Home-Start offers practical support to young families in their own homes and in group activities. Referrers to us include Health Visitors, Social Care, Children's Centres and self referrals.. Issues referred include mental health, domestic abuse,  bereavement and disabilities. Our support can often make all the difference to families going through difficult times and helps to maintain family cohesion.  We have a well documented history of success and are professional in the way that the charity is managed and has good governance.

Activities

We train people to become Home-Visiting Volunteers with a 40 hour Preparation Course over 10 weeks.  Our volunteers give 2-3 hours a week to support a family.  For this work the "match" of volunteer and family is vital and this is carried out by our Scheme Organiser.  The whole scheme is managed by Trustees and is Quality Assured by our parent organisation Home-Start UK.
