Home-Start Birmingham Central and South-West wants to see a society in which every parent has the support they need to give their children the best possible start in life. We offer support, friendship and practical help to parents with young children, in the community of Birmingham Central and South-West.
Home-Start offers a unique service, recruiting and training parent volunteers to visit families at home, where there is at least one child under five, and to offer informal, friendly and confidential support. To help give children the best possible start in life, Home-Start supports parents to grow in confidence and strengthen their relationships and their links with the local community.
Home-Start Birmingham Central and South-West offers one to one personalised support for parents under stress, with at least one child under five and reaches out to families at risk of social exclusion, including those who find difficulty in engaging with other services.
We place trained volunteers who are parents themselves alongside parents who need support. Support is tailored to the individual needs of the family, with great emphasis on the careful matching of the volunteer to a family.
Volunteers are managed and supported by a team of trained staff.
Home-Start Birmingham Central and South-West is a member of the Home-Start Birmingham Consortium (HSBC) and is supported by the charity's national organisation. We are, therefore, a local community resource with all the benefits of a strong national organisation.
