Objectives

We support families who live in the Basildon District (Basildon, Billericay and Wickford) who are emotionally and socially isolated, by providing a Home Visitng Service. Basildon is in the lowest 10% on the indices of need and we have 23% of families living in poverty claiming benefits. Many familes (for various reasons) have little or no support system. Therefore by engaging with our service we help them to break their emotional and/or social isolation, we work with the parents to improve their confidence and self esteem and to help them to intergrate into the community. By doing this we aim for every child to have a good start in life.

Activities

We recruit and train local parent volunteers to provide friendship, emotional and some practical support to families in Basildon District (Basildon, Billericay & Wickford) with at least one child under five years old in their home, so every child can have a good start in life. This is achieved by a team of volunteers who:
•  visit for 2 hours a week for 6 months breaking isolation
•  are free of charge
•  Are non-judgemental
•  Promote independence and empowerment
•  Provide adult company and someone they can talk to confidentially
•  Provide emotional support
•  Provide parents with support to positively parent their children e.g. children’s behaviour, play and children’s routines
