Home-Start Barnet is a local charity that support vulnerable families with young children, living in the borough of Barnet and Harrow, who are experiencing difficulties.
Our work centres on regular one to one support in the home for families. However we also provide; health coaching for pregnant mothers at risk of mental health, parenting programmes, family groups for hard to reach families, financial literacy for low income families, women’s support groups for victims of domestic violence, therapeutic play for children affected by domestic violence and trips and outings during school holiday times when stress levels are at their highest for many families.
We recruit and train volunteers with parenting experience from the local community to visit families at home who often are at crisis point. Volunteers offer time, practical support and friendship thereby building the parents’ confidence and improving the lives of children.
