The British Schools Museum is uniquely placed to portray the history of elementary education and the social history of childhood from the late 18th century, through to the late 1960's. A complex of schools buildings dating from 1837 to 1905 house a large and fascinating collection which includes textiles, books, furniture, photographs and artefacts related to childhood education. We help to bring learning to life and regularly entertain educational, school and community groups, and visitors from around the country with our interactive visitor experiences.
Our purpose is to preserve our unique buildings and collections so that our communities continue to enjoy and discover the history of learning.
